Leadership Update Oct 26

The Leadership crew has finished their Wilderness First Responder training! They wrapped up on Sunday with a final practical exam.

Students attend to accident victims in a staged scenario last weekend.

We have to give our base staff some credit for getting into the role of the “victim”. It’s also works out pretty well that we’re coming up on Halloween!

The students saved the OBCR staff from being zombies… or something.

Since completing their WFR phase, the group has left our base in Tres Rios and is now on the river working to earn their Whitewater Rescue Technician (WRT) certification and receive swiftwater training. This phase, led by our Safety Chairman and training expert Phil Perez, will teach students how to assess and perform river rescues.

Tomorrow  the students will start their raft guide training to learn the ins and outs of leading a full raft on whitewater rivers. They’re currently training on the Río Pejibaye but will soon transition to the famed Río Pacuare later this week!

All our photos collected so far will be up on our Facebook page later this afternoon!

There’s still time to sign up for our Leadership Semester course for Spring 2013! If you’re interested or know someone who would want to join, go to our enrollment page now.
