A popular adventure activity we offer here at Outward Bound Costa Rica is ziplining, also known as a “canopy tour.” Students suit up with a harness, are attached to a cable and moments later enjoy the thrill of shooting from platform to platform through the rainforest. This cool article describes how it is possible to make a zipline right in your own backyard. While it’s likely not the same as partaking in a rainforest canopy tour, we think having the chance to zipline regularly would be pretty awesome!

In Costa Rica tropical fruits are abundant and readily eaten by its residents. Apples, however, have recently emerged as a popular imported fruit (mainly from Chile) to Central America. Regardless of demand for apples, fruit that is actually grown in Costa Rica such as bananas, plantains and pineapples, remain on top in terms of consumption. We can’t blame Ticos for this–we’d rather have a slice of pineapple than an apple any day!
