Costa Rica is a country with a huge amount of tourism, especially ecotourism. Ecotourism is considered a low-impact form of tourism where those visiting a country explore natural areas that are often fragile. This interesting article talks about how a community in rural Bolivia is using ecotourism to sustain their way of life while enlightening visitors about natural resources and local practices.

 

 

 

Sloths, or osos perezosos as they are known in Spanish, are a relatively frequent sighting in Costa Rica. That’s why we were a little surprised to read this article which talks about how these animals are still largely misunderstood or understudied in countries where they are abundant. This sloth sanctuary, located outside of San Jose, is working not only to protect and shelter sloths but also to educate the public about the creatures. Buena nota!
