Girl Scouts Destinations Update: August 2, 2013

It’s officially summertime here at Outward Bound Costa Rica! Tune in to our blog on Tuesdays for updates on our Summer Adventures and Fridays for updates on our Girl Scout destinations program to hear all about our student happenings here in Costa Rica and Panama.

Scuba and Sea Turtle Adventure #3

The girls on Scuba and Sea Turtle Adventure returned from Bocas del Toro last night and have rested up for a big day exploring the city and ziplining through the canopy as one final adventure! After spending the past week and a half in the water, navigating the Artisan market and seeing things like traditional coffee makers and carved coconut shell bowls will be a nice change of pace. They’ll also be zipping through the jungle canopy and get to see Costa Rica from new heights. The girls and instructors are still out enjoying their last days on course so no pictures are available yet, but we bet there are some amazing ones to come!

The girls helped make sure these young Leatherback turtles make it to the safety of the open water!

Rainforest, River & Reef #2

The Rainforest, River, & Reef #2 girls have officially said “adios” to their host families in Piedras Blancas and “hola!” to new experiences like boogie boarding and exploring the trails of Manuel Antonio National Park. There they had the opportunity to see all kinds of wildlife including giant iguanas and monkeys (notorious for stealing from unsuspecting tourists). They headed back to our Rainforest base and rested up before exploring the Artisan market and the capital city of San Jose. On the same day they did a zipline tour where they raced above the jungle canopy and got to experience Costa Rica from new heights.  Today the girls are wrapping up their adventures with one final day of whitewater rafting the Pejibaye River. Since they’re still out exploring, no more pictures have made their way to the Rainforest base just yet – but we’ll be sure to get some from the girls when they get back tonight!

Catching Waves # 2

The girls on Catching Waves #2 left our Rainforest Base on Tuesday after an adventurous last two days exploring San Jose, and taking on the Pejibaye River! The Chica Scouts had a blast learning how to surf in Avellanas, and left us with some awesome pictures that we are currently working on uploading. Be sure to check our Facebook page in the upcoming week for pictures of our Catching Waves #2 girls!
