To celebrate 100 years of one of the most intense cycling events in the world, Tour de France has created a new time-trial cycling event called Nice Fête Le Tour. This tour has been created to allow amateur riders the attempt to take on the route that is 95% similar to the route professional riders will take on a few days later. This is sure to give an amateur rider the experience of a lifetime as they try and take on the 24.1km long route on June 30th.

The 2013 Tour Divide Mountain Bike Race has begun and is considered to be one of the most demanding mountain bike races in the world. The bikers will be journeying 2,745 miles, and are doing it solely for the thrill of an adventure. Riders will be away from civilization and have to rely only on their personal resources. The entire distance could take between 20 to 30 days to complete, but for those who accomplish the grueling trails, it’s bound to be an accomplishment of a lifetime.

While OBCR doesn’t have cycling programs, we are constantly taking students ‘off the beaten path’ to obtain new and life-changing experiences. Whether they are hiking to remote areas in the rainforest, rafting down whitewater rivers, or creating their own adventures that bring them outside of their comfort zones, OBCR strives to give students the opportunity to challenge themselves while exploring new places, just as these riders are challenging themselves as they venture to different parts of the world to embark on new adventures.
