Laura Dekker, 15 years old at the time, set sail to embark on a trip around the world…alone. This article gives a glimpse of the backstory about her epic trip after sailing 27,000 nautical miles in 519 days (17 months) to become the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe. She made a documentary (Maidentrip) which was first shown at South By Southwest (SXSW) and is now navigating it’s way through the world itself.
