Student Adventures Update: August 6, 2013

It’s officially summertime here at Outward Bound Costa Rica! Tune in to our blog on Tuesdays for updates on our Summer Adventures and Fridays for updates on our Girl Scout destinations program to hear all about our student happenings here in Costa Rica and Panama.

Rainforest Exploration Challenge

Our Rainforest Exploration Challenge students finished up a culture-packed week at their home stays where they learned the ins and outs of jungle living. They participated in the chicken ceremony and discovered first hand what “farm to table” means. They also learned how to make cheese and harvested sugar cane before using the traditional trapiche. After indulging in the sweet rewards of their hard work, students bid “adios” to their home stays and headed on their way to Manuel Antonio where they are currently enjoying the surf sand and sun before hiking through the park tomorrow.

Surf & Service Adventure

The Surf & Service Adventure students are still absorbing the surf culture of the Guanacaste region as they gain experience on the water, learn about local ecology, and spend their nights under the stars. This week they are giving a local school a makeover by painting the students’ desks. Be on the look out for pictures once they return from serving and surfing!
