Pacific Wave & Water #1 Update- July 25th

Happy Guanacaste Day from Costa Rica! This week the guys caught with Executive Director Jim Rowe at our Manuel Antonio base for two days of CPR and First Aid training.  During CPR training students learned how to correctly administer rescue breathing and chest compressions between adults and children and taking the first steps of action in emergency situations. Each student completed the training through a series of short test on the information acquired from each chapter. The next day students watched videos and studied their workbooks while giving each other proper and adequate first aid treatment and practicing real life application of their techniques. Throughout the day students still had the opportunity to catch some evening waves before winding down their stay in Manuel Antonio. Every participant in the course passed all of their test and will receive their official certifications for First Aid and CPR from the American Red Cross!

Their next surf stop was to Corralillo to try their hand at waves on the Pacific Coast. Students hiked in to their campsite at Corralillo to set up tents for the night and prepare for the next few days of surfing. In Corralillo, the boys also completed a service project aiding in picking up 5 bags of debri and trash around the beach to help keep the area clean. The group finished their surf expedition today and headed back to the rainforest base for their city tour in San Jose. In San Jose they toured the city by foot and used their bargaining skills for souvenirs at the local artisan market. Tonight they finished up with their last group dinner and meeting as some prepare for an early departure tomorrow morning!
