RAINFOREST HIKE AND HOMESTAY #2 – JULY 4TH UPDATE

RAINFOREST HIKE AND HOMESTAY #2 – JULY 4TH UPDATE

Hola! The students left the rainforest base early Monday morning with instructors Zach and Danny to start the their rugged trek through Cruce Tonito. The heavy rain made good use of their hiking equipment as students trudged through the challenging conditions and bonded together as they set up camp for their first stay under the cloud forest. Throughout their hike students had the opportunity to see indigenous spider monkeys swinging through the tree tops and other diverse wildlife while heading to the first homestay. At the homestay students participated in local Costa Rican customs and assisted with preparing family meals. Meals include homemade flour tortillas, traditional rice and beans, and fresh chickens from the coop. Other activities  included hiking up river to a thrashing waterfall and rappelling down 80 feet! Thursday, students applied their newly acquired hiking skills & mechanics and took on the Rainforest independently for their first solo excursion. During their solo, individuals experienced seclusion in a safe natural environment while discovering their inner-selves. Today the group will continue their uphill challenge to their next homestay as they continue to bond through the physically challenging course. Check back with us Friday for more pictures and updates on where the hikers head to next!
