Rainforest, River, and Reef #2

Rainforest River Reef 3 group

The Girl Scouts from Rainforest, River, & Reef #2 successfully completed their course! The girls have had a challenging yet exhilarating experience trekking through the forests and swimming in the ocean.

“Finishing the hike was an amazing feeling, it was probably one of the best memories because everyone felt so accomplished,” said Sophia H. from McKinleyville, California.

After some relaxation on the beach in Manuel Antonio National Park, the Girl Scouts tested their leadership skills and used their arm strength to navigate their raft down the Pejibaye river with the help of our experienced river guide, Nela.

Angela L. from Katy, Texas describes her Outward Bound experience as “challenging, but in the best way possible.”

The Scuba & Sea Turtle Adventure #3 Girl Scouts have completed their two-week course. The girls will be leaving with their scuba certifications and many unforgettable memories.

On the last day of diving, the group descended to explore an abandoned shipwreck. To conclude their Scuba & Sea Turtle Adventure, the group descended one last time at night to swim with the beautiful bioluminescence.

Jennifer S. from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin says her favorite part was “working with the turtles with the people and seeing their daily lives as well as getting to wakeboard and scuba dive.”

The Rainforest, River, & Reef course not only exposed the girls to beautiful sights, but it really pushed their limits.

The Catching Waves Girl Scouts learned to trust themselves on their surf board in the ocean.

Although they were in a foreign country, all of the groups’ service projects with the local communities helped them learn about Costa Rican and Panamanian culture.

“Outward Bound has added an exciting new chapter to my life, giving me a better look into the world around me and allowing me time to grow outside my comfort level,” said Jennifer S. from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

A lot of girls take home more than just friendships and memories. They go back home with a new perspective of themselves and new leadership skills.

Julianne D. from Arlington, Virginia says Outward Bound Costa Rica was, “a great learning experience in the most beautiful classroom in the world.”
