Girl Scout Destinations Update- July 23rd

Rainforest, River, & Reef #2

Rainforest River Reef 2

Our second session of Girl Scouts on Rainforest, River, & Reef started their course by helping with a service project here on our rainforest base. The girls planted trees and enjoyed getting to know each other over their last dinner on base.

The group left Trés Rios on Monday and began their trek through the rainforest to the community of Piedras Blancas. Today, they will be challenged with a “solo” where they will spend some time reflecting alone in nature.  Tomorrow the group will get the chance to rappell a waterfall before continuing their hike to their final destination, Manuel Antonio National Park.

Catching Waves #3

Catching Waves 2

The Catching Waves Girls Scouts arrived with a lot of enthusiasm and energy ready for their surf and service adventure.

Before heading out to the beach in Manuel Antonio National Park, the group first zip-lined through the canopy and shopped in the artisan market in the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose.

The Girl Scouts have been helping with local service projects focusing on environmental restoration when not surfing.

Scuba & Sea Turtle Adventure #3

Scuba Sea Turtle Adventure 3

The last Scuba & Sea Turtle Adventure group started their course in the San San Pond Sak Wetland reserve and fell in love with the kind and caring community who they say treated them like family.

SST3 Turtles

Their main focus in San San Pond Sak was to help with sea turtle conservation efforts including nightly patrols and habitat restoration. They are proud to announce they helped release 300 baby sea turtles.

The next phase in their course is scuba diving. Many girls are excited to cross scuba diving off their bucket list. For the remainder of the course, the girls will be exploring the waters in the Bocas del Toro archipelago.

Check back next Thursday for our next Girl Scout Destinations update!
