Rainforest Hike & Homestay #1

Rainforest Hike & Homestay 2015 #1

The six Rainforest Hike & Homestay Session #1 students completed their epic two-week course this weekend! Following their week-long jungle trek, they enjoyed some fun in the sun at our beach base in Manuel Antonio.  They then spent their last few days at our Rainforest Base, wrapping up their course with some exciting outdoor and cultural activities. The group visited the city of San Jose, explored the rainforest canopy on a zipline tour, and spent a day whitewater rafting on the Pejibaye River.

Natalie C. from Bloomington, IN said of her experience, “I didn’t like to think about myself before. Now I am more conscious about myself and how I fit in the world.”

“I definitely would recommend Outward Bound Costa Rica because it’s the best experience I’ve ever had,” said Margeaux T. from Cicero, IN. With new friends and the experience of a lifetime, the students are now off to their next summer adventure. Four students are continuing on to their next Outward Bound Costa Rica expedition, the Caribbean Scuba & Service two-week course.

The six students on the Rainforest Hike & Homestay Session #2 arrived this past weekend from California, Ohio, Costa Rica, and France! They have just begun their two-week Costa Rican adventure with their instructors Diego, Francisco, and Danny.

Their first day on our rainforest base was spent getting to know each other and working in a local community garden. They are now following the footsteps of the first session’s group as they left Monday for their week-long hike through Piedras Blancas. Cloud forests, cultural immersion, and waterfall rappelling are just a few course highlights that they will encounter in the next few days.

Twelve students joined together this weekend to embark on their Panamanian adventure with their instructors Irene, Nico, Carlos, and Devin. This bunch of students have come from California, Georgia, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Costa Rica. Four of them are continuing their expedition after coming from the Rainforest Hike & Homestay course.

They spent their first day on our rainforest base doing a technical tree climb and learning more about each other and what to expect on course. Although their departure to Panama was delayed a day due to weather conditions, they are now in Bocas del Toro commencing their scuba phase in the beautiful tropical archipelago.
