The Girl Scout Troop 3161 has been busy since its arrival in Costa Rica last week: the group has made its way through the community of San Isidro, hiked to Rancho Tinamu and participated in traditional activities, along with outdoor adventures.

The group of eight Girl Scouts and their three chaperones, all from New York, participated in a service project at the school of Zuquia in the community of San Isidro de Dota during their first days in the country.

They also learnt to use a trapiche, a traditional instrument to get juice out of sugar cane and had the chance to enjoy other cultural activities with their Costa Rican homestay families.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Girl Scouts proved that they are real Outward Bound students by rappelling down a waterfall after a short hike.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The group has also discovered the area of Manuel Antonio and enjoyed some time at the beach and in the Manuel Antonio National Park. Today, they will zip-line through the rainforest canopy and learn about different canopy species and wildlife.
