University of Washington Custom Group Hike, Surf & Raft in Costa Rica!

img-20160916-wa00021 Students from the University of Washington were amongst the privileged few to see and experience our special route for rainforest trekking in the area of Piedras Blancas. The group learned how to make meals by the fire and experience different forest types as their hike led them through areas of different elevations. They stayed with homestay families along the way in their beautiful open-air, sustainable rainforest homes. While enjoying their company students had the opportunity to practice their Spanish with their hosts. Students also learned how to make sugar with a trapiche, grind corn for homemade tortillas and rappelled down a waterfall! They finished their hike at Rancho Tinamú Rainforest lodge, where a breathtaking mountain view and a local family welcomed them (along with a few of the frog species present in Costa Rica). At Manuel Antonio, they enjoyed the spectacular beach area and received holistic instruction in surfing and boogie boarding in the warm Pacific Ocean, before whitewater rafting in the country’s spectacular rainforest rivers. We wish the best to our participants as they head back home and journey together into their first year at University of Washington! img-20160916-wa00201   To learn more about our Group Programs, head to our website or check out our individual Semester, 18+ and Summer Programs.
