Open Enrollment Manager

The Open Enrollment Manager plays a crucial role in the Communications Office and is responsible for successfully marketing Outward Bound Costa Rica and its programs internationally through various outreach methods, maintaining relationships with and cultivating new referral sources, counseling students and their parents in choosing the right course, leading students through the enrollment process, maintaining accurate admissions, medical and financial records for each student, and ensuring that students arrive/depart safely to/from our base.

This role focuses on extensive external communication and essential administrative duties. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal English skills, be conversant in Spanish, have strong attention to detail, and proven success in sales, data entry and administrative tasks.

This position requires relocating to Costa Rica and committing to a 24-month contract. Desired start date is mid-March 2018. The Open Enrollment Manager reports directly to the Director of Marketing & Communications. Hours are 9am to 5pm, some weekends during our high season (June – August) and limited travel.

Job Description

  • Initiate sales outreach and marketing strategies with a goal of placing 8-12 students in each of the OBCR Open Enrollment summer and semester courses as well as OBCR GSUSA Destination courses
  • Accurate and timely response to all student/parent inquiries within established parameters
  • Administration of the enrollment, payment and refund process and financial reporting to the Director of Finance
  • Ensure course policies including payment instructions, academic credit information and the Code of Conduct is understood by each student and their parents
  • Serve as liaison between students, their families and OBCR
  • Management/maintenance of the student enrollment database (Salesforce) and all enrollment documents per recruitment cycle including updates to the website
  • Distribution of logistics information on arrival /departure information of students to the Logistics Manager
  • Distribution of relevant student information to course instructors/Director of Programming
  • Administer course evaluations to students and compile feedback to drive the development and improvement of future courses
  • Work across cultures and departments to ensure successful development and implementation of OBCR policies and programs
  • Contribute to planning/strategy meetings with the Communications Team

Media & Logisitics Intern

As an intern, forget about delivering coffee and writing posts that never see the light of day. You will directly support our Media & Marketing Manager in organizing logistics for our summer high season, assisting in collecting participant evaluations post course, and creating engaging content for web and social platforms. Interns will develop a substantial portfolio of work and gain valuable experience. Everything you do here will serve a purpose in helping more people experience all that Outward Bound Costa Rica has to offer.

June to August is our organization’s high season, during which approximately 250-350 students travel to and from Costa Rica to participate in our courses ranging from 1 to 8 weeks. We’re looking for an intern to organize and be responsible for student logistics in addition to writing press releases, drafting blogposts, and social media communications.

To intern at Outward Bound Costa Rica, you don’t have to be an expert in outdoor adventure or Costa Rica—in fact, we love people who are curious and eager to learn and we are happy to help you grow. But, we do look for driven individuals who are not afraid to jump right in.

Job Description

  • Overseeing student arrivals and departures at the airport during high season.
  • Issuing, collecting, and compiling all participant evaluations.
  • Gathering photos that instructors take from course and organizing them in our databases.
  • Being a creative force of content idea generation.
  • Taking group photos and headshots of students returning from course.
  • Interviewing students on camera and off camera for quotes.
  • Drafting social media copy to publish created content.
  • Writing creative blogposts of student experiences on course.
