Summer’s almost here! As we gear up for our 2013 Summer Adventures and Girl Scouts destinations program, we’ve brought on two interns to the team here at Outward Bound Costa Rica who will play an important role in the Programming and Communications Offices. Read on to learn about Kaari and Melodey and how they’ll be helping the team this summer!
Bienvenida, Kaari!
As an alum of the Girl Scouts Service Challenge destinations course, Kaari has always loved Outward Bound Costa Rica. Her remarkable experience is what led her to join OBCR for the summer! Kaari is the Programming Intern, assisting the Programming Office and focusing on course logistics for all summer students. Aside from looking forward to her new responsibilities as Programming Intern, Kaari can’t wait to learn more about Central American culture, and brush up on her Spanish. Read more about Kaari below.
Kaari Burdsall
Hometown: Tacoma, WA
Education: B.S in Biology at Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington
Kaari has lived her whole life in Washington, and grew up with a family who loved the outdoors. She has spent a lot of time hiking and working at summer camps where her enthusiasm for the outdoors continued to grow. She is excited to be with OBCR where she can utilize her extensive outdoor skills in a professional setting. Kaari is also very interested in science. This led her to pursue a degree in Biology where she can combine her passion for science and the outdoors by studying what she loves
Bienvenida, Melodey!
Welcome Melodey, our new intern for the OBCR Communications team! Melodey will be working with the Communications Office on various outreach, marketing, and web efforts, as well as welcoming students on their arrival to Costa Rica. Melodey is looking forward to getting to know all of the students, learning more about the Tico culture, and improving her Spanish skills. She is eager to learn and ready to spend the summer working with great people, learning about a new culture, and embracing a new adventure! Read more about Melodey below.
Melodey Sepsey
Hometown: Huntley, IL
Education: B.S. in Advertising at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign
Melodey grew up in the suburbs of Chicago scrapbooking and being crafty in her spare time. She’s always liked being creative and inevitably decided to pursue a degree in advertising where she could do what she loved! Her passion for the outdoors stems from her best friend, who introduced her to camping and everything the outdoors has to offer. She is always looking to try new things and had the opportunity to travel during college where she hiked through the mountains in Spain and backpacked through Europe. Melodey is excited to now be working in Costa Rica with OBCR, where she can combine her passion for adventure, and the outdoors while working with the Communications team!
