It’s officially summertime here at Outward Bound Costa Rica! Tune in to our blog on Tuesdays for updates on our Summer Adventures and Fridays for updates on our Girl Scout destinations program to hear all about our student happenings here in Costa Rica and Panama.
Rainforest Exploration Challenge
The Rainforest Exploration Challenge group is completing its first leg of their journey as they backpack the mountainous countryside of Piedras Blancas, Costa Rica. They have been staying at homestays throughout their challenging physical and cultural experience. When asked what her favorite part of course was, four-time Outward Bound Costa Rica participant, Bailey Palmer, said, “I like the part of hiking when we finally get to the homestays because we’ve just worked so hard for a couple days and finally get a reward. The Zamora and Lopez families are both so sweet and welcoming and the food is AMAZING. Just getting to hang out in the middle of the Costa Rican rainforest for a couple of days is unreal. Playing soccer in the mud with the local kids and getting the opportunity to help the moms make dinner and talk to them; it’s great.”

Whitewater Multi-River Expedition
The Whitewater group has completed two river runs and are currently preparing for the next run on Class III rapids. This group has been bonding on the river, challenging themselves individually and as a group to conquer one of Costa Rica’s most epic outdoor challenges.
Panama Scuba Exploration
The current group of Scuba Explorers have been working hard to obtain their NAUI Scuba Diver Certification while enjoying the thrills of watersports including wakeboarding, kneeboarding and snorkeling. This particular group is working hard to overcome the challenges of moving toward their individual goals while simultaneously supporting each other in theory sessions and on dives.
