Summer has arrived to Costa Rica! Ok, so while the official start to summer, June 21, may be a few days away, here at Outward Bound Costa Rica, we like to measure the start of summer by welcoming students on base.
Our 2015 Summer Expeditions are officially underway. This past weekend, six students arrived to our Rainforest base to start their course, Rainforest, Hike & Homestay #1.
The students, who come from Arizona, Indiana, Michigan and North Carolina, spent their first day in Costa Rica doing a service project harvesting seedlings in our rainforest reserve. The seedlings will be treated and placed in bags of soil to be replanted in areas that require reforestation.
The students are currently learning the value of team work as they push their limits on a hike through the verdant rainforest. Along the trail they will camp until they reach the remote village of Piedras Blancas, where they will stay with local families to learn about Costa Rican traditions and practice their Spanish skills.
Throughout our summer season, we will be sharing student updates on the Outward Bound Costa Rica blog. Be sure to check back for the latest news and photos from the field.
Limited space is still available on several of our Summer Expeditions in Costa Rica and Panama. Interested in participating? Submit an enrollment form here or give us a call at 1-800-676-2018.
