A Winning Read: Live a “Life Without Limits”

Chrissie Wellington, four time Ironman female champion and holder of the world record for this extreme tri-sport competition, visited Costa Rica yesterday to promote her book “A Life Without Limits.” Chrissie spoke to an audience at the local Brook’s store about the importance of staying positive and believing in yourself especially during the most trying moments of life.

Members of the Outward Bound Costa Rica team met Ms. Wellington, who said she is honored to serve as a role model for alumni and incoming Outward Bound students who, just like her, are working to grow and test their limits!

Just as this ultimate tri-sport competition requires much more than physical stamina to conquer a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run, an Outward Bound course simulates the challenges of life through physical challenges in a natural setting.  In both cases, an element of self confidence and a positive attitude are what can make or break success in the physical challenge. According to Chrissie Wellington,  it “has been an absolute privilege to push my body to the limit” and in doing so, learn how to live free of self-limiting thoughts.

Chrissie mentions in her book that she never excelled at any sport as a young person, and didn’t begin winning races until after age 25. Her secret: being grateful for a challenge! If you need an inspiring read to motivate you to push yourself, achieve at your potential, and test your limits, pick up this book.
