Anyone who lives or has spent a substantial period of time in Costa Rica has noticed that cycling culture is huge here! Although this new technology pioneered by Google has not yet made it to Costa Rica, we think one day this would serve some of our Tico friends very well in order to find new routes and alternative directions via bicycle. Just plug your headphones into a smartphone with mobile internet access and cruise onto your next destination. Pretty sweet!

The world we live in is an amazing place and although it sometimes feels small, our planet is actually incredibly large and, in some ways, unexplored. At least that’s how we feel when we read articles like this one, speaking of a recently discovered bird species first sighted in a Peruvian cloud forest. Cornell ornithologists have decided to call the bird the Sira Barbet (capito Fitzpatricki).

“May you recognize the power you hold in your hands to create a world different from the one you have always known,” is what former Costa Rican president Oscar Arias Sanchez encouraged graduates from Walden University to do when he spoke at the institution’s graduation ceremony this past weekend in Minnesota. The Costa Rican president’s words are an inspiration to us here at Outward Bound Costa Rica because we too hope that, through our courses, students will realize their potential!
