The Communications staff here is excited to welcome our new Marketing Manager to the OBCR team! Chelsey Perron will be using her experience and dedication to the Outward Bound mission to spread the word about our summer and semester courses. She is excited to connect with alumni and future students through meaningful conversations both in Costa Rica and via social media. On base she likes to pretend to be a “runner” as she explores the nature reserve with Rafi, the only dog willing to wait for her. She also enjoys making soups and researching the next off-base adventure, whether it’s doing henna tattoos at the local feria or climbing the tallest mountain in Central America. Learn more about Chelsey below.
Chelsey Perron
Hometown: Lexington, KY
Education: B.A. in International Studies/Spanish with a focus on Global Environment and Latin America from the University of Kentucky
Chelsey grew up in a military family, moving coast to coast for most of her life. Most recently she claims to be from Kentucky but besides the occasional “Ya’ll” her southern roots are limited to horse back riding and making a mean casserole. She has lived or traveled in 10 countries over the past 5 years, and is excited to be living in Costa Rica again. Her first visit to Costa Rica was a bit more rugged as she WWOOFed across the country, harvesting tropical fruits and learning about chocolate and coffee. After working at an experiential education summer camp in 2009, Chelsey has had a passion for this kind of education, and the people in the industry. Most recently, she was the Director of Marketing at a zipline canopy tour start up in Lexington, Kentucky where she balanced time in the trees with tweets, facebook updates and maintaining relationships with just about every print and sign company in the city. Chelsey is stoked to be living in Costa Rica and to keep everyone in the loop by sharing about OBCR via social media and blog updates.
