Job Summary:
The Data Warehouse Architect 3 role supports the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Data Warehouse project by managing complex data architecture, security, and integration processes. This position requires strong technical expertise in Teradata and Linux environments, effective communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a hybrid work schedule based in Lansing, Michigan.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler to ensure reliable data availability for critical business processes.
- Oversee Data Warehouse change management infrastructure, including code and DDL promotions and build engineer tasks.
- Administer complex Linux security models on ETL servers and manage Teradata security and access controls.
- Conduct data architecture reviews and audits to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and solutions.
- Provide support for escalated Data Warehouse troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools to enhance performance and scalability.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and effective use of enterprise data assets.
- Manage and support ETL workflows and data integration processes across multiple systems.
- Collaborate with external vendors and third-party service providers as required.
- Support patch management, system upgrades, and ongoing system maintenance.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues across data platforms.
- Perform data profiling and implement data quality rules for assessment and validation.
- Execute data cleansing and standardization using built-in and custom data rules.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies for data systems.
- Lead migration efforts of data warehouse processes to standardized frameworks.
- Conduct elevated access reviews and user audits to ensure compliance.
- Identify and remediate audit findings related to data systems and security.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Strong English communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting complex data and system issues.
- Minimum 3 years of Teradata experience.
- Minimum 2 years of Linux experience.
- Ability to relocate to Lansing, Michigan at candidate's own expense and work on-site as required.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Previous government or State of Michigan experience.
- Experience with cloud-based business intelligence (BI) tools.
- Experience supporting data loading from multiple source systems.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and training to development teams.
Special Considerations:
- Hybrid work schedule with mandatory on-site presence every Wednesday and Thursday.
- Candidate must provide valid Right to Represent and comply with bid submission requirements.
- In-person and virtual interviews required; virtual interviews require screen sharing and photo validation.
- Relocation to Lansing, Michigan is non-negotiable and must be done at candidate's own expense.
- Strict adherence to State of Michigan and MDHHS/DTMB policies and security protocols.
Scheduling:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in office (Wednesdays and Thursdays mandatory).
- Project duration approximately one year, starting October 20, 2026, through September 30, 2027.
