Along the way, you’ll deepen your understanding of river hydrology and practice medical procedures for high-risk scenarios.
Off the river, immerse yourself in Costa Rica’s natural beauty. Camp along jungle-lined rivers, spot wildlife like monkeys and sloths, and explore waterfalls. Nights will be spent in treehouse-style lodges and riverside campsites, where you’ll bond with your team, prepare meals together, and learn about local culture.
This course is a transformative journey—combining adrenaline-pumping rapids, team challenges, and personal growth. By the end, you’ll have new skills, lasting memories, and a deeper connection to the environment. Get ready to experience the thrill of whitewater rafting and the magic of Costa Rica with OBCR and HIOBS!
On this OBCR course, students will begin their journey at our high-altitude rainforest basecamp before heading to the Rio Sarapiquí and Rio Pacuare—two of Costa Rica’s top rivers for year-round rafting. While staying in a tranquil treehouse-style lodge, students will learn about the local flora and fauna from the lodge’s owners, who built it in harmony with the surrounding nature.
This area is rich in cultural history, as it is the ancestral land of several indigenous nations, including the Chorotega, Malécu, Bribri, and Ngäbé, among others. The perfect combination of adventure and cultural immersion awaits in Costa Rica’s wild, jungle rivers.
