This past weekend marked the end of Outward Bound Costa Rica‘s summer season, with the last seven Summer Expeditions students heading home after the Pacific Surf & Cert Extension course. The students completed their week of surfing as better surfers and First Aid/CPR certified.
Congratulations to all of our summer students on completing their courses! It has been a fun summer of exciting new experiences, friendships, and memories.
Teenagers from all over the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Venezuela, and France came for the adventure of a lifetime for two to five weeks across Costa Rica and Panama.
Students on the Rainforest Hike & Homestay completed a challenging hike through the remote rainforest, learning about the rural culture along the way while staying in traditional homestays. They experienced Costa Rica thoroughly on its tropical beaches, winding rivers, rainforest canopies, and in the city of San Jose.
Students on the Caribbean Scuba & Service course not only became NAUI certified scuba divers after a week of diving among Panama’s coral reefs, but also completed a sea kayaking expedition and service projects in the Bocas del Toro archipelago as well as the San San Pond Sak wetlands, assisting with leatherback sea turtle conservation efforts.
Students on the Pacific Surf & Cert Extension had the opportunity to hone their surfing skills on one of the nicest surf breaks in Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica while becoming First Aid/CPR certified.
Our students go home with much more than memories of adventure. Many of them have had a life-changing experience and now hold a finer perspective on the world and new leadership skills that will help them in their future endeavors.
We thank all of our Summer Expeditions students and wish them the best in their future endeavors! Pura vida!
