Farewell to our Fall 2015 Coast to Coast Expedition Semester Students

coast to coast group on river After 85 days of action-packed adventures, including whitewater rafting, scuba diving and a 26-day cross-country trek, the time has come to bid farewell to our Fall 2015 Coast to Coast Expedition Semester students. “Coast to Coast is both a physical and mental journey through Costa Rica with a product consisting of a new you and a new family,” said Amos P. from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. “I’m really glad I came and I’m sad to be leaving everybody,” said Jacob S. from . “I can’t know yet, but leaving will probably be the strangest change in my life yet.” coast to coast expedition semester students sunset Throughout the course the students pushed their limits like never before. “The most challenging part was the hike because it challenged us all both physically and emotionally,” said Josh N. from Cambridge, Massachusetts. “We all supported and kept pushing each other which helped us all get through the hike.” “[I learned] I can do anything I set my mind to,” said Mac B. from Saskatoon, Canada. josh and mac “I have gained a lot of skills and had a fantastic time,” reflected Conor R. from San Marcos, California.”I’ve learned that you can do many everyday tasks using less and have a much more simple life that is just as fulfilling.” The course was full of many highlights for the students. “My favorite part of the course was being in a different culture completely different from what I had back home and learning a different way of life,” said Josh N.  “I know that I have now learned to better appreciate the little things in life – something I will definitely take home with me.” coast to coast group with turtle “My favorite part was the homestays and being a part of the Costa Rican culture,” added Conor R. “It has inspired me to try and travel more.” Practicing Spanish was the course highlight for Amos P.  “I love languages and I want to learn more in the future and work with multinational communities,” he said. 5 Common Costa Rican Creatures of Manuel Antonio Mac B. enjoyed the surfing phase in Playa Avellanas the most. “Surfing was awesome and a fun way to end the course,” he said. We are sad to see our Coast to Coast Expedition Semester students leave and wish them the best of luck in all their future endeavors!
