Final Summer Enrollment Update: CSS #3 & PSS #2

It has been an eventful summer here at Outward Bound Costa Rica. We’ve had many groups join us on course! We are so happy to create a space where students create memories of a lifetime and push themselves out of their comfort zones. As we welcome in the month of August, we give you the final Open Enrollment Summer course update. Here’s what students have been up to since we last checked in:

Caribbean Scuba & Service #3

Monday morning, Caribbean Scuba & Service students traveled a the local school in Solarte, Panama to donate school supplies donated by Girl Scout Troop 32222 and interact with the local kids. They spent the afternoon playing, coloring, and watercolor painting outside. Tuesday morning, students threw on their life jackets and hopped on a boat to go visit the caves! Later in the day, they completed a service project—building recreational equipment for the local school kids. Today, students are traveling to San San Pond Sak to begin their service project with sea turtle and learn about the culture of this incredible community.

Pacific Surf & Service #2

Last Friday, our surf crew carried on with 3 eager surfers. After saying goodbye to their 1-week Pacific Surf & Cert friends, Pacific Surf & Service students packed up their campsite at Uvita beach and traveled to Dominicalito beach. There, they were greeted by beautiful weather and massive waves. They hiked to the local tide pools and a look out point down the beach from their campsite. Later in the day, they traveled to Manuel Antonio beach where they continued to catch some waves and explore. When they returned to their beach home, they were greeted by toucans flying around in the nearby trees! Today, students are still out in the water, mastering their pop-ups and breaking boards, “the price you pay for gnarly barrels,” said their instructor, Bailey. They have been beach hopping to find the perfect spot to surf. Tomorrow they will be packing up and heading back to our rainforest base to enjoy one more day in beautiful Costa Rica.
