Here at Outward Bound Costa Rica everyone is buzzing about the Olympics! For this and many other reasons, we were happy to read that New Zealand Olympic competitors Storm Uru and Peter Allan are Outward Bound alumni! Both lightweight male rowers participated in a 2006 rowing course in New Zealand which helped the pair “realise that anything is possible”!

As our Summer Courses wind down, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge all of the beneficial elements of outdoor education. This article showcases some important thoughts from transcendentalist and naturalist thinkers about the importance of summer camps. C.I. Hammet, quoted in this article, said, “[Opportunities must be provided] for campers to learn to do for themselves, to practice outdoor skills that teach self-reliance and resourcefulness.” We couldn’t agree more!
