During the first part of their hiking phase, the Leadership students hiked during the day and then camped at night. This past week however, they spent their evenings in the warm, welcoming homes of our homestay families. This gave students the opportunity to get a real taste of rural Costa Rica living. Some of their homestay activities included milking a cow, learning to make homemade tortillas, and grinding sugar to make candy.
During their trek, they also took some time to rappel down a waterfall. Now it’s back to studying as they learn about ropes, knots, belaying and more as they work toward their Technical Ropes Rescue certification.
