The Leadership Semester students spent last week getting TRRO (Technical Rope Rescue: Operations Level) certified. Throughout this training they learned about several different knots you can make with ropes, and how to create anchors with those knots. They also learned how to use several different ropes and knots to create rope systems that will effectively rescue someone in need. We are happy to announce that everybody passed the certification! Congratulations Leadership team!
The TRRO certification, combined with the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and Whitewater Rescue Technician (WRT) certifications, allow the students to join just about any rescue team. These rescue teams are crucial when it comes to car accidents, fires, hiking accidents and water emergencies and evacuations.
The students left for Panama where they will have the opportunity to earn their NAUI scuba certification. They will also be doing other watersport activities such as wakeboarding and surfing. While they’re out of the water they will focus on community service projects to help the local children with their schools and playgrounds.
