Since their arrival to Costa Rica, our Leadership students have been tirelessly working and studying in pursuit of the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifications. The group has already taken their exams for First Aid and CPR and are studying hard for Sunday’s written WFR exam.
Earlier this week while on a hike near base, the group had a chance to practice some of the rescue techniques they were learning when they came across a blind dog who was stuck in the river. We’re so proud of these students for helping the dog to safety.
Today, students spent the afternoon learning how to attend to victims:
This practice will definitely come in handy this weekend, when students will apply their skills in a simulated emergency scenario as part of the practical portion of their training. (NOTE: Scenario victims may appear to be members of the Communications staff, please don’t be concerned!)
