About the Waterfront Lifeguarding Certification
Who should take the Waterfront Lifeguarding training course?
Whether you are hoping to get an awesome summer job or have a lifelong career as a lifeguard, the Waterfront Lifeguard certification course is a great place to start. While a basic Lifeguarding certification in addition to First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications will get you a job at a swimming pool, if you are interested in working at a beach you will also need the Waterfront Lifeguard certifications. Participants must be at least 15 years old and if they are taking the Waterfront Lifeguard course as a separate module, they must have already earned their Lifeguarding and First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
What topics are covered in a Waterfront Lifeguarding course?
Participants will learn the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in both pools and waterfront settings such as nonsurf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds. By the end of course, participants are prepared to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and prevent drowning and injuries.
How long does it take to become Waterfront Lifeguard certified?
When accompanying a American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED course, the Waterfront Lifeguard course takes 31 hours. However, it can be completed as a separate module skills course in 5 – 6 hours.
How long is a Waterfront Lifeguard certification valid?
The Waterfront Lifeguard certification is valid for 2 years and is only valid when accompanied by a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding and First Aid, CPR, and AED training.
