Bailey Palmer
Hometown: Ventura, California
OLS Fall 2014 Alum
Bailey was just 13 years old when she completed her first course as a Girl Scout with Outward Bound Costa Rica. This first experience showed her she was capable of more than she ever thought- she couldn’t wait to come back!
Bailey returned the following three summers for more courses with OBCR, and at 19 years old embarked on the Outdoor Leader Semester, an adventure that allowed her to transition from Student to Instructor in Fall 2014 by earning seven internationally-recognized certifications. She then started working as an Outward Bound Costa Rica Field Instructor Intern during the following summer season and is now thrilled to work in Costa Rica and share her experience with future students.
“I can honestly say I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for Outward Bound Costa Rica,” Bailey said. “It gave me a better understanding of myself and the person I want to be. I don’t know what I would be doing today if I hadn’t come here when I was 13.”
Her exceptional leadership skills and unyielding love for the outdoors is what led her to participate in Outward Bound Costa Rica’s courses and eventually work in the country of “La Pura Vida” with us.
