STAFF STORIES: An Open Farewell Letter to Spring OLS Students

To my Spring 2017 OLSers,

Congratulations! You all have officially completed your leadership course with us here at Outward Bound Costa Rica. I hope you all know how incredibly proud I am of each and every one of you for all you’ve accomplished over the past 70 days. I have seen you push yourselves out of your comfort zones and challenge yourselves both mentally and physically. I have seen you overcome your fears whether it be of the river, heights, or spending 24 hours alone in the jungle. Most importantly, I have watched as each of you gained a deeper understanding of yourselves and how you’ve learned to love yourselves for who you are.

When you arrived here in Costa Rica 70 days ago many of you were lost, unsure, and even scared of what the future held for you- but the group I said farewell to this morning was full of passion and drive to live the life of their dreams. You have all become phenomenal leaders! I know you will succeed at ANYTHING you set your minds to.

Thank you, to each of you. Thank you for all the laughter, inside jokes, and memories we’ve shared. There was truly never a dull moment with you guys. Thank you for all of the effort you put into this course and the certifications.

Lastly, thank you for all that you have taught me. You all have reminded me to look at the world with a childlike awe and for that I am extremely grateful. It has truly been an honor to be your instructor through this adventure. I love you all and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
