What have our Open Enrollment students been up to since we last posted? Volunteering, hiking, and gaining scuba diving certifications!
Caribbean, Scuba & Service (Session 1)
We were thrilled to hear all of our students passed their scuba certifications in Panama earlier this week! They each studied up for their test and gained experience in the water. Around dusk one evening, they all headed out for a night dive to view the bioluminescence before they began their service projects the following day! They spent the day digging and preparing a tether ball for a local school in Solarte. It took them a few tries to find the best method to mix their materials, but they succeeded in setting the cement base for the structure. Most recently, CSS students have learned how to wakeboard and are volunteering with sea turtle conservation projects. They will arrive back on base Friday afternoon to close out their last day with us!
Service, Hike & Homestay (Session 1)
There has been much to celebrate with this group! These twelve students recently completed their challenging hike through Piedras Blancas and Tinamu, and have thoroughly enjoyed all that the rainforest had to offer. They are now at Manuel Antonio for a change of scenery and to soak up the sun while staying at our beach base. They’ll be learning how to catch some waves on a boogie board and hopefully spotting a few monkeys and lazy sloths. When SHH students return back to the rainforest base on Thursday, they will be heading out to zip-line and visit the San Jose Artisan Market. We can’t believe their time with us is coming to an end!
