Last weekend, we welcomed three more Girl Scout groups: Catching Waves, Service Challenge (Session 2), and Scuba & Sea Turtle Adventure (Session 2)! They’ve all been spread across Costa Rica and Panama on different adventures, from learning how to surf in Costa Rica to volunteering with local communities in Panama.
Catching Waves
After arriving to Costa Rica on Saturday and taking some time to settle in at our rainforest base, these nine Girl Scouts zipped through a canopy tour before headed beach-bound to Playa Uvita to begin learning to surf! Thursday they celebrated the Fourth of July with a piñata, good food, and fireworks on the beach. On Wednesday, they had their first surf lesson with Bailey, and the girls are catching on quickly. When they’re not out in the water, they will be participate in various community service projects helping out local communities.
Service Challenge (Session 2)
After a long day of traveling on Saturday, Service Challenge Girl Scouts settled in, woke up, and got right to work! On their first service project, they helped maintain and clean up trails in the nearby reserve. They have been having a blast celebrating the Fourth of July, and exchanging knowledge with local indigenous communities. They will continue to do various community service projects in Costa Rica before traveling to Panama to help out with sea turtle conservation efforts.
Scuba and Sea Turtle Adventure (Session 2)
For this group of twelve Girls Scouts, they have already created memories of a lifetime. While in San San Pond Sak, volunteering with sea turtle conservation efforts, they met a representative from National Geographic studying and photographing animals in the region. Aside from meeting incredible locals and travelers in Panama, the girls have been exploring this beautiful island and are excited to begin learning how to scuba dive. Thursday morning they went out on the water to see manatees!
