After trekking across Costa Rica and working hard to give back to small community in Nicaragua, we figured these dedicated students deserved some fun in the sun. Last week, they arrived at beautiful Playa Avellanas to begin their surf phase. For the last week, instructors have been teaching them how to pop, read waves and ride them in.
Yesterday they made their way to our Manuel Antonio base to keep shreddin’ the gnar; they also celebrated instructor Chago Lopez‘s birthday with fun decorations and a piñata. They’ll finish up their surf phase next week at a sea turtle refuge at Playa Tulín, where they’ll be working on a conservation project to protect the endangered sea turtle population along Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Coast.
