Tri-Country Update Oct 9

Tri-Country students are still trekking along on their coast-to-coast hiking expedition! They’ve seen a lot while exploring Costa Rica on foot. Learn about what they’ve been up to!

Tri-Country students hiking their way through Costa Rica.

The students’ visit to Tapantí Park brought them to their highest point of the hike, reaching around 3600 meters (11,800 feet) in altitude. The students later hiked to Monte Copey, a famed location for Costan Rican coffee, where they tasted coffee beans and our instructors taught them about the cultivation process.

In the past couple days, our terrain-trekking students have been hiking and camping their way through the remote rainforest of the Brujo Region. Today they arrive to their first family homestay in Piedras Blancas: our instructor Orlando’s house! They’ll be spending their time in Piedras Blancas with the Lopez and Zamora families, learning about local traditions and taking time to reflect on their experience during their “solo”.

We were lucky that the students sent back some photos to us here on base so we could share them with you. Take a look!
