Job Title: Cytotechnologist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Cytotechnology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting. - High volume lab experience required. License: - Must possess an active state license. Certifications: - ASCP Certification as a Cytotechnologist is required. - Hologic imager training and certification must be current. - Current proficiency testing certificate required. Must-Have: - Traveler's permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility. - Must include ThinPrep certification, diploma, and 2026 PAP PT with submission. Description: The principal responsibility of the Cytotechnologist is to microscopically examine a wide variety of complex cellular body specimens. This examination is performed with the purpose of identifying abnormal cell changes that may indicate inflammatory, premalignant, malignant, or other conditions. The process requires a high degree of accuracy, precision, and timeliness. These assessments are based on specific knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Judgment acquired through specialized undergraduate and postgraduate training is essential for this role. Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is preferred. Cytotechnologists will be required to wear designated scrubs. Relevant skills include expertise in various specimen types and procedures such as ThinPrep, PAP, quality control, and specimen labeling. The role does not involve rotating shifts, weekends, on-call duties, or holiday shifts. Compliance with attendance policies is mandatory, where excessive call-offs could lead to termination.
