Funding Your Course

There are many opportunities for assistance in funding your course, as many organizations recognize that experiential education and study abroad courses are vital to a well-rounded education. You can also research crowdfunding websites, such as GoFundMe, to guide you through your fundraising efforts.

NOTE: Custom Courses are already priced at a discount and are therefore not eligible for additional partner, alumni, friends and family, and veteran discounts.

Scholarships

At Outward Bound Costa Rica, we believe that transformative outdoor experiences we offer should be accessible to everyone. That’s why, in partnership with Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, we are proud to offer scholarship assistance for all our teen, semester, and adult courses. This partnership ensures that financial barriers do not stand in the way of adventure, personal growth, and meaningful education.

Whether you’re joining us for a backpacking expedition or a semester-long leadership program, we are committed to supporting your journey. We offer scholarships based on financial need, and we encourage all eligible students to apply.

ACADEMIC CREDIT

Through OBCR’s partnership with Hurricane Island Outward Bound School and Western Colorado College, you can earn up to 10 academic credits on our Gap Year & Semester courses. The first step to obtaining credit is to speak with your academic advisor. It’s very important to ensure credits will be accepted at your school or university prior to arriving for course. CREDIT FOR SERVICE HOURS

Outward Bound Costa Rica is happy to provide documentation confirming the number of service hours in which you participated on course. If you have an official form from your school, university or organization please either bring it with you or email it to [email protected]. If you don’t have a form, we would be happy to send to you a formal letter from OBCR.
